Paracyathus caryophyllus is one of the species of coral found in the London Clay, it has been found at Sheppey, Aveley, Maylandsea and Herne Bay.

Paracyathus is a genus of hard corals in the family Caryophylliidae and is still alive today.
An example of a living member of the Paracyathus genus is Paracyathus stearnsii which is on the left and would have looked relatively similar to Paracyathus caryophyllus.
