Invertebrates are an animal lacking a backbone, such as an arthropod, mollusc, annelid, coelenterate, etc. The invertebrates constitute an artificial division of the animal kingdom, comprising 95% of animal species and about thirty different phyla.
The London Clay is probably most known for its great range and diversity of invertebrates as the preservation of some specific invertebrates such as the spectacular crabs and lobsters.
