Astarte filigera
Astarte filigera
Astarte filigera is a type of bivalve found in the London Clay.
It has been recorded at Sheppey.
There is an example of Astarte filigera on the right, this specimen still has its white shell which is an uncommon find as this is often broken before the bivalve is found.
As you can see from the specimen it has ridges along its shell, which is quite distinctive for identification.
